So, do you remember this story, way back in July? Well, last week Gabe and I were back at Anthropologie hoping to score some boxes to use in our upcoming move, and you'll never believe what we saw! Some dude (older than us, too!) winding up the timers to go off while he was there standing in front of them!
At least my husband shows some sort of discretion, right? :)

More Random Thankfulness
Ok...Here's the continuation to yesterday's post on things that I'm thankful for:
*I'm thankful for the visit that my sisters made last month, even if it did go by way too fast!
*I'm thankful for this little sweetie (and her brothers) to love and practice on while I wait for sweeties of my own.
*I'm thankful that just yesterday afternoon, we were given an option on an even better apartment than we had originally signed for!
*I'm thankful that my family is all healthy. I do not say this without conviction- we are very blessed.
*I'm thankful that by the time you're reading this, I'm out of work until Monday! I'm off to spend a lot of quality time with my man!
Have a lovely Thanksgiving, and I hope you all enjoy time with your loved ones!

Random Thanks
I just wanted to share a few things here that I am thankful for, you know, in honor of Thanksgiving that's coming up shortly.
*I'm thankful for the heater that we are usually too cheap to turn on(you can do that much easier out here in the desert than you can in the midwest where I'm originally from!).
*I'm thankful for my husband, who I miss so much every day when we go to our jobs, and speaking of...
*I'm very thankful that we not only have jobs, but that Gabe is able to work two jobs!
*I'm also very thankful that he is able to go to school, and not only that he's able, but that he wants to go so that he can provide a good foundation for us and whatever family we have in the future.
*I'm thankful for the friends I've come to know recently, who are so very good for me and my heart, and let me be 'me'. I feel so rested at peace around them.
*I'm thankful for our new home that we get to move into in 25 days(yes, I have already started a countdown!), and for God providing such a great and affordable place for us to live for a while.
*I'm thankful for the family I have who are far away and miss me and make me feel loved by always asking us when we'll be moving home!(I miss you, too!)
*I'm thankful for my sewing machine and all I've learned to do with it lately(not much, but the desire is there).
I'll be continuing this tomorrow, but if you'd like to share anything in the comments here, please do. I'd love to know what you're thankful for right now.

just wanted to share
A taste for irony has kept more hearts from breaking than a sense of humor, for it takes irony to appreciate the joke which is on oneself.
- Jessamyn West
I saw this a few minutes ago, and just liked the way it 'felt'. It's so true, and aren't us humans so fragile and mixed up and weird? I've been having an 'off' week, or really, if I'm honest, it's been about a month or so, at least since i've been my normal self around here. I'm not entirely sure why, but I would say that I'm definitely in an introspective period, or 'sponge-y', if you will. I'm soaking up other's words and photos and experiences in this blogland of ours, and just seeing who it is that I am. I suppose it's not just in blogland, but really in this real life, too. And it's ok. I'm ok. I've just been thinking a lot. Baking and cooking a lot. Sewing a little. Dreaming a lot. Even cleaning a lot. Ok, maybe not a lot by your standards, but by mine, it's a lot. I think that there's just so much going on in my head that it's hard to sort it out here without sounding whiney. I want to be 'real', but not 'really annoying'. It's a hard balance, sometimes. So, before I end this ramble of mine, I just want to share that I am alive, I haven't forgotten about my little blog, and I'm planning a comeback. Just know that it may not end up being until after I move into a new home, and, um, I don't even know exactly when that's happening. Let's hope for about a month from now!
What's going on in your mind?

DIY Holiday by Kayla Aimee and Wilna

You may have noticed the cute little button at the top left of this page. Let me tell you about it. :) My friends KA and Wilna put together a great online class full of ideas and tutorials to help you have a fun, stress-free holiday with great gifts to make at a very affordable price. Their class is selling for $20 and it starts this weekend. I've taken their blogging class before(wilna designed my blog for me a while back- and changed the appearance of this baby for the {MUCH}better), and they are both so available to their students. You should be able to find everything you need on the supply list for under $30, and there are 25 different lessons. I am so excited about this class because we're mocing in the next month, which means that we'll be incurring additional expenses, and that's not really a favorable position to be in in December! Anyway, sign up(unless you are someone that I give gifts to. If that's you, please don't, because then you may not feel all special and magical when I give you a gift that you already know how to make)! I know I've already said it, but I really am stoked for this to start. I know that KA and Wilna have both put a lot of time and effort into making this a great experience for all, and I want their efforts to pay off! The website, kaylaaimee.com is live, so go check it out for more info. Also, KA posted a video on her blog this morning answering questions about the class.

Our First Pioneer Night
Ok. Here it is. The post that I keep talking about (and not posting). Unfortunately, I forgot to have Gabe email me the photos off of his phone(Yes, the camera on his phone takes MUCH better photos than my camera), so I'll have to add the photos later on. Anyway, Saturday afternoon, Gabe and I went over to Erin and Darrin's house for our first official Pioneer Night. We cooked/grilled/baked 5 of our favorite food blogger's recipes. It started like this: Erin kept emailing me links of PW's recipes (that of course, I had already seen in my google reader), then I got my copy of The Pioneer Woman Cooks in the mail and started drooling looking at all of the pretty pictures of the yummy food, and we just kept talking about food, food, and MORE FOOD! and then we decided to make a night of it. It was pretty great! Erin made the Jalapeno Poppers, Mushrooms Stuffed with Brie, and Darrin grilled the steaks that we put this sauce that Erin made: Onion-Blue Cheese Sauce. I made her Spaghetti with Artichoke Hearts and Tomatoes, and Mocha Brownies(in the cook book- not online). We certainly had a feast, and even had so many leftovers that I was still eating them at lunch on Tuesday! Gabe loved the jalepeno poppers and hasn't stopped talking about them since, and my favorite was the sauce for the steak, which means it was really good considering the fact that I don't like onions! In my opinion, the brownies took a long time(longer than the recipe I make them from), and weren't as good as mine, either(sorry PW!). The mushrooms were great, as was the pasta, but I ate so much steak to slurp up as much of the sauce as possible that I had little room for them. We had a great time, but were definitely pooped by the end of the evening! We are already planning our next Pioneer Night for over Thanksgiving weekend, so I'm scoping out her recipes and trying to decide what to make.
Do you love the Pioneer Woman as much as I do? If so, what's your favorite PW recipe? I'd love to hear from you!

I Promise
*Edited Wednesday, November 11*
Ok- SO I'm even lamer than I thought possible. I haven't been home tonight, and the photos that I need for this post have not been loaded onto the computer yet, so I can't post. Tomorrow, however, is another day, and I should have my photo heavy post up for sure! Thanks for understanding!
I know I've been very lame about showing up here, but remember, I did tell you that I wasn't going to show up just to let my voice be heard. Well, I haven't been feeling very chatty lately, but I do have a fun post coming up about something that happened over the weekend, and I'll give you 2 hints: it involves The Pioneer Woman and Erin. That's it! I should be back no later than tomorrow with a fun post about something we did that I don't think we'll ever forget! I hope you had a good weekend!

500
This is my 500th post, and I've got nothing. Well, that's not entirely true. I've actually got a few posts in my head, but am processing and not ready to write. To update you on Gabe's costume, he didn't end up winning. :( I can't believe it, but it's true. Thank you, though, for all of your fun comments! I'm proud of him for being so creative. I'm getting a little more used to the bald head, especially since he decided to buy a fedora to keep his cute little head warm. So, sorry I'm not cooler with something fabulous for my 500th post, but it is what it is. Here are a few quotes that I saw today that I wanted to share:
Silly things do cease to be silly if they are done by sensible people in an impudent way.
- Jane Austen
Love is not blind - it sees more, not less. But because it sees more, it is willing to see less.
- Rabbi Julius Gordon
One of the keys to happiness is a bad memory.
- Rita Mae Brown
